MNCAPS prepared me for college

I wanted to reach out to you and tell you about how much MNCAPS prepared me for college!
1. Freshman comp is one of the things I’m grateful for because, majority of students stress out on that class because it’s 3 days a week for 2 and a half hours in a lecture of 250+ people. It’s an expensive class too because it requires a list of 8 books.
2. I tested into an advanced literature class and I am the only freshman in a class composed of juniors and seniors. I struggled the first couple weeks and wanted to withdrawal because I felt I could never fit in the conversation. The older students approach and participate in a more professional and sophisticated style diving deep into the context.
This is now one of my favorite classes because of the progress I’ve made in myself. The professor is a TOUGH grader, and I was/still am pushed to use my time and resources wisely, which means going to office hours and writing my paper a week and a half in advance to get it reviewed by the writing center.
3. Is Talk Like TED still part of the curriculum? In my business seminar we focus on building character. We read articles and turn in a paper every Tuesday before class that is RUBRIC HEAVY and give an individual speech on a topic of character ex.) defining values, future jobs, goals, and grit.  Grit by Angela Duckworth is a great read and her TEDtalk is great too!
4. My major is Marketing Management and Entrepreneurship. Leadership class is requied before management class and we had to complete the same exact assignment – My Leadership Philosophy, this was super easy for me I just made edits to my MNCAPS one!
5. I won a competition for best elevator pitch last week with a prize of $1000! I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciated your tough love in MNCAPS and share with you how the program set me up for success!
